Meredith, New Hampshire – Mr. Thomas J. 'Bud' Martin, Jr., of Meredith, New Hampshire, formerly of Waltham, died at Golden View Health Care Center in Meredith on Sunday, June 6, 2021. He was 94.
Bud was born in Waltham on September 3, 1926, a daughter of the late Thomas and Delia (Egan) Martin. He was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School and served in the United States Army during World War II.
After returning from the service, Bud worked for the City of Waltham. What began as a 90-day work assignment at Prospect Hill Park turned into a thirty-six year long career; the office at the park was named in his honor.
He also served on the board at the Waltham Credit Union, was an active member of Saint Jude Parish, and was a proud member of VFW Sullivan Post.
He leaves his sisters, Mildred Bertolami of Waltham and Frances Buteau of Mashpee, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Bud was also the brother of the late Mary Maher, Edith Penzone, Frederick, John, Florence and Irene Martin.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bud's life by gathering in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, June 17th at 11 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main St, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
