Waltham – Mr. Thomas C. Reid, of Waltham, died peacefully at his home on Friday, December 11, 2015. He was 93.
Tom was born in Newton on September 22, 1922, a son of the late Henry and Lillian (Burke) Reid. He was raised in Newton and graduated from Newton High School. After graduation he entered the United States Navy and served his country during World War II.
After the war Tom earned his degree from Northeastern University in Boston with the class of 1951. He worked for several companies as an electrical engineer, but spent the majority of his career at Cambridge Electric. Tom was a very active man. He donated large amounts of time to the Warrendale Little League, as well as to Boy Scout Troop 250 in Waltham. During the free time that he did have, Tom enjoyed working in the backyard of his home in Waltham.
Tom was the husband of the late Alice L. (Dunn) Reid and is survived by his children, Thomas G. Reid of Plymouth and David C. Reid, and his wife, Ellen, of Waltham. Also left to mourn his passing are his grandchildren, Thomas Leo Reid, Robert C. Reid, Michael C. Reid and Allison M. Reid all of Plymouth and his nieces and nephews.
Tom was also the father of the late Nancy J. Reid and brother of the late Marilyn Rapps.
Family and friends will honor and remember Thomas's life by gathering to visit at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning, December 16th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Benedict Cemetery, West Roxbury.
