Waltham - Mr. Thomas H. 'Hubie' Tierney of Waltham died Friday, August 29, 2003 at his home. He was 95. Born in Waltham, a son of the late John P. and Nora A. (Mooney) Tierney, he was a lifelong resident of the city. He was a Waltham Police Officer for 37 years, retiring in 1973 as a Juvenile Detective. After that, he worked in security for Mass Hardware in Waltham. He was a member of the Massachusetts Police Association and the Waltham Police Retirement Association. After his retirement he lived a full long life, enjoying holidays and visits with family and friends. The husband of the late Ruth H. (Colson) Tierney, he leaves his children, Arlene C. Raleigh of Waltham, Thomas H. Tierney, Jr. of Feeding Hills and Douglas B. Tierney of So. Deerfield; 8 grandchildren, Karen Vebber of Portsmouth, RI, Kyle Raleigh of Arlington, David Raleigh of Lincoln, RI, Kristin, Kara and Katelyn Tierney of Feeding Hills, Douglas and Matthew Tierney of So. Deerfield; 2 great-grandchildren, David and Megan Vebber; 2 brothers, Francis J. Tierney of Waltham and James C. 'Cy' Tierney of Sarasota, FL and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late J. Paul, Mary E. and Robert A. Tierney, Sr. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5-8 p.m.
