Mrs. Trudie A. (Finneran) Collins of Waltham died Monday, November 8, 2021 in Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 82.
Mrs. Collins was born in Boston on August 16, 1939, a daughter of the late Francis D. and Jane M. (Burns) Finneran. The Family moved to Newton in 1952, and she graduated from Saint Bernard's High School in West Newton.
Trudie started her career at Newton Savings Bank. In 1964, she moved to Waltham and start working at City Hall. At the culmination of her career she was appointed Assistant City Clerk, the first woman to hold that title.
She married William H. Collins on Septemer 27, 1983 and together they shared several happy years living in Maryland and Virginia before moving back to Waltham. Trudie went back to work in the City Clerk's Office until her retirement.
Trudie was a woman of great faith. She was a frequent communicant of Saint Mary's Parish who was very generous and selflessly contributed to the church and many charities. She loved spending time with family, especially behind the camera as the family photographer. She also enjoyed many summer visits to Rockport.
Trudie was the wife of the late William H. Collins, Sr. and the sister of the late Francis D., William J., Mary T., and Evelyn A. Finneran.
She is survived by her brother Robert A. Finneran of Waltham, her sister, Jane M. Gilmore of Braintree, several step children and their families and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
