Waltham – Mr. Vincent Oliveri, of Waltham, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at his home. He was 84.
Vin was born in Waltham on August 5, 1933, a son of the late Salvatore and Delia (Biondo) Oliveri, and had been a lifelong resident. A 1952 graduate of Waltham High School he served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
In October, 1957 he married Beverly A. Regan in Saint Mary's Church and the couple made Waltham their lifelong home. For forty years Vin worked as a manufacturing supervisor at the Raytheon Company and after retiring from that job he took up a second career as a fitness instructor at the Waltham YMCA. After seventeen years he retired from that job a month ago.
Vin was a man of varied interests . . . he will long be remembered for his mastery of being able to greet friends and strangers in languages heard around the globe and was a talented trumpet player in his youth. He enjoyed jazz and classical music and made family summer vacations memorable with yearly visits to Old Orchard Beach's Ocean Park in Maine.
In addition to his wife of sixty years, Beverly, he leaves his children, Kimberly M. Carll (Steven) of Raymond, Maine, Stephen V. Oliveri (Paula) of Waltham, Lisa A. Morris (Michael) of Billerica, Brian M. Oliveri (Chon) of Billerica and Kathleen D. Keenan (Robert) of Somerville; his grandchildren, Nathaniel Carll, Courtney Lilly, Lindsay Monack, Erica and Stephanie Oliveri, Molly, Jake, Dylan and Tyler Morris, Emma Oliveri and Zachary and Patrick Keenan; his great-grandchildren, Emmett and James Carll and Baker Lilly; his brother and sisters, Richard Oliveri of Waltham, Virginia LaCour of Gretna, Louisiana and Carol Bourdreau of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Vincent's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, January 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
