Mr. Vincent M. Saltalamacchia, Sr., of Waltham, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. He was 93.
Born on September 3, 1931 in Somerville, he was a son of the late John and Maria (Guiffre) Saltalamacchia. He grew up in Brookline and graduated from Brookline High School. Shortly after he proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
On July 17, 1955, Vincent married Dorothy LaMountain and together they made Waltham their home and spent sixty-eight cherished years together before her passing in January of this year.
Vincent enjoyed a long career working for the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company and following his retirement, he continued to serve the city of Waltham as a crossing guard. In his leisure time, he was an avid supporter of the local Boston sports teams, with a particular fondness for the Patriots and Red Sox.
In addition to his wife Dorothy A. (LaMountain) Saltalamacchia, he was predeceased by his daughter Carol Saltalamacchia and his brothers, Joseph, Anthony, Albert, Salvatore, John and Ernest Saltalamacchia.
Vincent leaves his daughter Susan L. Tebeau (Erik) and their son, Patrick; his sons Vincent Jr. and Keith and daughter Cheryl; his brother Dominic Saltalamacchia and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Vincent's life by gathering for an Evening Wake on Monday, October 28th, from 5 to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham and again at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
