Waltham - Mr. Vincent D. Scalisi, of Waltham, died Tuesday, December 6, 2011 in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was 77.
Vincent was born in Waltham on November 8, 1934, a son of the late Dominic V. and Anastasia (McConihe) Scalisi, and was a lifelong Waltham resident. During the Korean War he served with the United States Marine Corps. On May 14, 1960 in Saint Benedict's Church in Somerville he married Mary F. Dudley.
Vincent owned and operated Vin's Tire Service on Russell Street for over 30 years before retiring 10 years ago. He enjoyed working in his gardens and being in the outdoors either hunting or fishing. A true patriot he was a proud member of the United States Marines who always lived by its motto: Semper Fidelis.
He was predeceased by his brother, Dominic Scalisi.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mary, he leaves his children, Vincent A. Scalisi and his wife, Michele Driscoll, Mary Ann Scalisi and Timothy D. Scalisi and his wife, Susan, all of Waltham; his brother Alexander "Tooty" Scalisi and his wife, Sarah, of Hampton, New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Pauline Arsenault, Timothy Scalisi, Emma Scalisi and Thomas Scalisi and several nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Vincent's by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, December 9th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery.
