Waltham Mrs. Viola M. (Banks) Nix of Waltham died Friday June 4, 2004 in Wingate at Sudbury. She was 94 and would have turned 95 on June 22nd. Born in Nova Scotia, Canada, a daughter of the late George and Margaret (Cassidy) Banks, she was a staff aide for many years at the Walter E. Fernald State School. She lived in Waltham for over forty years before moving to Lakeland, Florida for twenty years and then back to Waltham in the mid 1990s. She loved to crochet, loved her Red Sox, but mostly loved her bingo. She was the wife of the late Lawrence C. Nix and sister of the late Wilfred, Harold, Earle and Glendon Banks, Clara Yorsten, Verna Estabrook and Edith Hiltz. She was also mother-in-law to the late Robert J. Stascavage. She is survived by two daughters, Doris V. Stascavage of Waltham, Jean A. Hilliard and her husband John M. of Holliston; one brother, Lawrence Banks of Margaretville, Nova Scotia; three grandchildren, Bryan R. Stascavage, Alan L. Stascavage, John M. Hilliard, two great grandchildren, Justin and Jaclyn Stascavage and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Sunday 2 to 5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of ones choice.
