Wayne, Pennsylvania - Mrs. Virginia 'Jini' (Leach) Curtin of Wayne, formerly of Weston, died Monday, September 10, 2012 in her home. She was 95.
Jini was born on May 9, 1917 and was raised in Winthrop where she attended local schools. She graduated from Harvard University and became a school teacher in the Winthrop public school system.
Jini married John A. Curtin and together they raised their family in Weston and in Marblehead. John died on June 4, 1996.
She will always be remembered as a loving partner to John for over 50 years as well as a wonderful mother who made her children her life. Jini was a lover of flowers and became a strong supporter of the Garden Club of Weston. She and John were very active at the Waltham Hospital and Jini was a pioneer in advocacy and practice of recycling. She was an accomplished writer providing articles for several magazines on life at sea with a family of five!
Jini is survived by her children, John A. Curtin, Jr. and his wife, Michelle, of Fairfax, Virginia and Candia Curtin Barry and her husband, Robert, of Wayne, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Christopher Viaux Curtin and his wife, Danielle, Lindsay Ballou Curtin, Kevin Patrick Barry and his wife, Stacey, Caitlin Marie Barry and Galen Virginia Barry and her great grandchildren, Alex, Caitlin, and Aaron Justus and Patrick and Callahan Barry.
She was also the mother of the late Michael Curtin.
Family and friends will honor and remember Jini's life by gathering to visit on Friday, September 14th, at 8:30 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery in Weston.
