Waltham - Mrs. Virginia E. (Burgess) Floyd died Thursday, January 27, 2005 in Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. She was 84. Born and raised in Waltham, a daughter of the late William and Bridget (Collins) Burgess, she was a supervisor for many years at the Raytheon Corporation. She was a graduate of Saint Charles High School and was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 1018 in Waltham. She was the wife of the late Stetson Floyd and sister of the late William Burgess and Mary Ryan. She is survived by her children, Bryan G. Floyd of Waltham, Joyce M. Thompson and her husband Robert of Colorodo Springs, CO, and Patricia A. Higgins and her husband Paul of South Boston; one brother, Francis Burgess of Hyannis; one sister, Irene Driscoll of Waltham; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Westley and Benjamin Thompson, and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invite to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Thursday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham, followed by a Funeral Mass in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
