Waltham – Mrs. Virginia M. 'Ginny' (Bowman) Fournier, of Waltham, died Friday, April 6, 2012 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. She was 76.
Ginny was born in Waltham on January 29, 1936, a daughter of the late Thomas and Agnes Bridget (Tierney) Bowman. She was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Waltham and until her retirement worked as a bookkeeping supervisor for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Waltham. Before that Ginny had worked for the Town of Belmont.
On May 10, 1958 she married Joseph F. Fournier, a Watertown native, and the couple lived in Natick for a short time before settling in Waltham in 1961. Joe died on October 3, 2011.
Ginny leaves her children, Barbara A. Bourque and her husband, Peter, and Joseph F. Fournier, Jr. and his wife, Wendy, all of Waltham. She was the proud 'Nana' of Meghan E. 'Pill' Bourque, Michael P. 'Louie' Bourque, Amanda M. 'Moo' Fournier and Joseph N. 'Spike' Fournier and also leaves many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Francis, Robert, Leonard and Marshall Bowman.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ginny's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, April 10th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
