Virginia T. Hachey (Marifiote), of Waltham, died on Saturday, July 6,2019 at home. She was 87.
Virginia was born on November 11, 1931 in Watertown, a daughter of the late Anthony and Nellie Marifiote (Scioli). A graduate of Watertown High School, she later married Cambridge native David H. Hachey at Saint Patrick's Church on April 11, 1953. They moved to Waltham in 1957 to raise and educate their family.
Virginia worked in office administration at the former BayBank in Waltham. She had previously worked as a crossing guard for the City of Waltham in the Warrendale neighborhood and as a census recorder.
Life for Virginia revolved around her family and she was happiest when at a family function, holiday or dinner with those whom she loved.
In addition to her husband of 66 years, David, she leaves her children, Deborah A. Hachey of Fairfield, Connecticut, David J. Hachey (Patricia) of Mamaroneck, New York, and Mark K. Hachey (Wendy) of Cumberland, Rhode Island; her grandchildren, Lindsay Wolfer (Eric), Ryan Hachey, Carly Hachey and Tyler Hachey; her great-granddaughter, Annabelle Wolfer; her sisters, Barbara Cedrone (Larry) of Newton and Jeannette Norris (late Edward) of Waltham; and five nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Virginia's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, July 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude's Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
