Virginia R. Joyce

Waltham – Mrs. Virginia R. (Mathews) Joyce, of Waltham, died Friday, April 7, 2006 at Mount Auburn Hospital, Cambridge. She was 77. Born in Boston, a daughter of the late Harry and Rose (LaVoie) Matthews, she had lived in Newton for many years before moving to Waltham in 1975. Until her retirement she worked as a clerk for Costco Wholesale in Waltham. She leaves her daughter, Sharon R. Rossi and her husband, Rick, of Waltham; three grandchildren, Melissa, Richard and Ashlee; one brother, Harry Mathews and his wife, Debbie, of Middleton; one sister, Arlene Egan of Maynard and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Lorraine Peterson and June Mathews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Tuesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Newton Cemetery. Visiting hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, 5th Fl., Boston, MA 02210 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
