Brockton – Mrs. Virginia H. (Giminarda) Keyes, of Brockton, formerly of Waltham and Marshfield, died Monday, May 4, 2015 in Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital in Brockton. She was 84.
Virginia was born in Waltham on April 27, 1931, a daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Grassi) Giminarda, and had been a lifelong resident before moving to Marshfield and then to Brockton six years ago. She was a graduate of Waltham High School.
Until her retirement she worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Zaphiropoulos in Waltham and before that as a secretary at the Raytheon Company, an administrative assistant at MacLean Hospital in Belmont and as a secretary and board member of the YMCA in Waltham. Virginia was a past president of the Waltham Women's Club.
Virginia was the wife of the late Walter I. Keyes and a sister of the late Vincent Giminarda and Roseann Walsh.
She leaves her children, Colleen J. O'Connell and her partner, Cheryl Armstrong, Karen J. O'Connell, and Sheila A. Taves, all of Waltham and Michaela P. Deeb and her husband, Robert, of Brockton; her sisters, Louise DeMeo of Waltham and Joanne Parker of Florida; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Virginia's life by gathering to visit at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Mary' s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
