Maynard – Mrs. Virginia S. 'Ginny' Sicard, of Maynard, died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence in Wayland. She was 77.
She was born in Newton on April 17, 1935, a daughter of the late Tommaso and Teresa Scandale and was a graduate of Newton High School. Prior to her marriage to Donald R. Sicard, she worked at the Raytheon Company. The couple moved to Maynard in 1964.
'Ginny' as she was lovingly known to family and friends, enjoyed arts and crafts, trips to the beach, working in the garden with her plants and, true to her Italian heritage, she was an excellent cook. She was also a member of Saint Bridget's Church in Maynard.
Her husband, Donald, died April 7, 2004. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Vito, Rosario, Thomas and Joseph Scandale and her sisters, Rose Rando and Mary Passerello.
Ginny leaves her son, Donald R. Sicard, Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Maynard; her grandchildren, Christopher P. Johnson and his wife, Margaret, and Heidi D. Johnson and her husband, Corey Sullivan; her sisters Ann Allain of Leominster and Theresa V. Maloney of Waltham; her sister-in-law, June Scandale of Auburndale and many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ginny's life by gathering to visit at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, February 16th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Marlborough.
