Wallace H. Brown

January 30, 1915 — February 6, 2005

Mr. Wallace Harlin Brown of Waltham died Sunday February 6, 2005 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, West Roxbury. He was 89. He was the husband of Helen (Hathaway) Brown for 66 years. Born in Medway, he had been a resident of Waltham most of his life and graduated from Waltham High School, Class of 1933. He was the son of the late Robert Harlin and Ethel (Dony) Brown. He worked for Brinks Inc. of Boston for 30 years until his early retirement in 1974. He served during World War II with the U.S. Coast Guard in the South Pacific and was assigned to the LST 170. Mr. Brown was a member of the Church of the Open Bible in Burlington for 55 years and served as an Elder for 30 years. He was the first leader of the Fishers of Men supper meetings and led the singing for many years. In addition to his wife, he leaves his daughter, Bonnie (Brown) Shukri and her husband Samuel of Burlington, and one granddaughter, Laurie (Shukri) Trocki and her husband Justin of Burlington. He was the brother of Jewel (Brown) Hubley and her husband Nathan Hubley of North Carolina, Myron Brown of California, and the late Willard Brown and Lawrence Brown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Open Bible, 3 Winn Street, Burlington on Saturday February 12, 2005 at 3 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the Open Bible Academy, The Church of the Open Bible, 3 Winn Street, Burlington, MA 01803.
