Walter R. King

Weston – Mr. Walter R. King, Jr. of Weston died Monday, June 1, 2015 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 73.

Walter was born in Waltham on June 18, 1941, a son of the late Walter R. and Mildred C. (Meagher) King, and was a 1959 graduate of Saint Mary's High School.

After earning a degree in mechanical engineering from Manhattan College in New York City he went to work for General Dynamics Electric Boat Division in Groton, Connecticut. Finding that he liked the work outdoors more to his liking he joined the International Longshoreman's Association and became a port crane operator until his retirement.

Walter lived in Groton, Connecticut and in New London, Connecticut before moving to Weston.

He leaves his sisters, Ruth M. Glynn of Weston, Mildred Coyle of Eldridge, Iowa and Sr. Bernice King, SND of Worcester and many nieces and nephews.

Walter was also a brother of the late Warren King, Leonard King, Sr. Mary King, SGM and Claire Voymas.

Family and friends will honor and remember Walter's life by gathering to visit at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, June 11th in Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
