Waltham – Mr. Walter D. McCue, of Waltham, died Friday, March 21, 2008 at Wayside Hospice in Wayland. He was 84. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Hayes) McCue, he had been a lifelong resident. Walter was a graduate of Saint Charles High School in Waltham and after that served with the United States Navy during World War II aboard the attack transport ship U.S.S. Ormsby. Until his retirement he worked for 42 years for the Raytheon Company. Walter loved baseball and was a longtime coach with the Waltham Babe Ruth League. He was a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham, the Nonantum American Legion Post No. 440 in Newton and the PFC John M. Sullivan USMC VFW Post No. 10334 in Waltham. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Anna M. (Tiano) McCue; his children, Frank A. McCue and his wife, Gayle, of Waltham, Janet L. McCue-Oliver of Tampa, Florida, Richard McCue and his wife, Lorraine, of Waltham and Cheryl A. Cullen and her husband, James, of Walpole; two brothers, Robert McCue of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Donald McCue of Waltham; his sister, Barbara Clark of Hopkinton; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Paul and Arthur McCue. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 8 a.m. Wednesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
