Waltham Mr. Walter F. Stafford, of Waltham, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital, Bedford. He was 78. Born and raised in Dorchester, a son of the late Walter R. and Genevieve (Fitzgerald) Stafford, he lived in Washington, D.C. before moving to Waltham forty-four years ago. Walter served with the United States Navy in the late 1940s and with the United States Army during the Korean War. Until his retirement, he worked as a baker for Dorothy Muriel Bakery in Allston. Walter was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the PFC John M. Sullivan USMC VFW Post No. 100334, both in Waltham. He had also been a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge No. 953 in Waltham. Walter leaves his wife of 55 years, Lottie T. (Skovenski) Stafford; his children, Susan Link of Sudbury and Steven W. Stafford of North Reading; his daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Hines Stafford and Daniel Link; five grandchildren, Julie, Stacey and Jeffrey Link and Steven and Christopher Stafford and several nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Donald Stafford and Eleanor Stelfox. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services at 10 a.m. Friday in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
