Walter H. Whalen

Waltham- Mr. Walter H. Wahlen of Waltham and Alexandria, NH, formerly of Cambridge and Somerville, died Wednesday December 24, 2003 in Lahey Clinic Medical Center, one week prior to his 88th birthday.

Born in Boston, a son of the late Walter J. and Annie (Gross) Wahlen, Mr. Wahlen was a Textile Chemist for Superior Products Company in Somerville for many years until his retirement. Mr. Wahlen lived in Waltham for the past 31 years, moving from Cambridge. Mr. Wahlen was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy.

Mr. Wahlen was the brother of the late Hazel Metzler and Mary Woodman.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years to Elisabeth (Boehnke); one son Christopher Wahlen and his wife Sheryl of Plaistow, NH; two daughters Priscilla Wahlen of S. Hadley, and Virginia Brahms and her husband Thomas of Reston, VA; one brother Frank Wahlen of Hebron, NH; four grandchildren, Scott and Faith Wahlen, and Tod and Anna Brahms; two great-grandchildren, three step
grandchildren five step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Alexandria, New Hampshire in the spring.
