Wayne J. DiMatteo

Mr. Wayne J. DiMatteo, of Boston, died Tuesday, September 10, 2024 in Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He was 69.

Wayne was born in Waltham on March 16, 1955, a son of the late Francis A. and Marie Jeannette (Romard) DiMatteo. He was a 1973 graduate of Waltham High School and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in business from Bentley College.

Inquisitive by nature and a lifelong learner by habit he later decided on a career in medicine and enrolled in the physician assistant program at George Washington University in Washington. Wayne practiced at several Boston area hospitals and became a professor at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.

A Boston resident for most of his life his real passion was traveling at home and abroad. There was hardly a corner of the earth that Wayne hadn’t touched.

He leaves his sisters, Rachele DiMatteo (Cecile Gagne) of Peabody and Rhonda DiMatteo of Boynton Beach, Florida and many cousins including Roberta Taranto (Richard O'Neil) of Hudson.

Family and friends will honor and remember Wayne's life by gathering for a morning wake on Friday, September 13th from 10:30 until 12 in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), WALTHAM, immediately followed by his Funeral Service at 12 Noon. Burial will be private.
