Wilfred J. Aucoin

Marlborough - Mr. Wilfred J. Aucoin, of Marlborough, formerly of Waltham died Friday, January 22, 2016 in Wingate at Sudbury. He was 96.

Wilfred was born May 25, 1919 in North Weymouth a son of the late John and Lucy Ann (LeBlanc) Aucoin. His family then moved back to their native Canada and he returned to the States at age 19 where he settled in Fitchburg before moving to Waltham and lastly to Marlborough in 1981.

During World War II he served with the Merchant Marine including one tour of duty off the North African coast. On November 9, 1947 Wilfred married Doris M. Doucette and they shared more than twenty-eight years together before her death on January 31, 1976.

Wilfred was a self-employed contractor and for over 20 years worked for the Archdiocese of Boston at Calvary Cemetery in Waltham and at Saint Patrick's Cemetery in Watertown before retiring.

He enjoyed his membership in the French-American Victory Club and the friendships that ensued, ice skating, watching New England sports, traveling, visits to York Beach in Maine and trips home to Belle Cote, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

In addition to his wife, Doris, he was predeceased by his siblings, Thomas Aucoin, Marie Moore, Constance "Gus" Aucoin, and William Aucoin.

He leaves his children, Joyce A. Kasica and her husband, Kent of Boulder, Colorado, Brenda M. Grenier and her husband, Russell of Palm Coast, Florida and Paul J. Aucoin and his wife, Annmarie of North Attleborough; his grandchildren, Adam Grenier, Alyssa and Joseph Aucoin; his siblings, Elsie Frontain and her husband, Gil of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Richard Aucoin of Waltham and Fred Aucoin of California and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Wilfred's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, January 28th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
