Mr. William D. Aucoin, of Waltham, died Monday, July 3, 2023 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 94.
Bill was born in Waltham on September 17, 1928, a son of Nova Scotia natives, Delphin and Elizabeth Aucoin. Raised in Waltham he was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School.
Following his graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and served honorably during the Korean War. Upon his return home he took a job at Polaroid and enjoyed a lengthy career before retiring in 1988.
He married Roxbury native, Priscilla A. “Nancy” Blanchard on July 28, 1951 in her home parish, Saint Joseph’s. The pair shared 72 wonderful years together until her death on March 25, 2023.
In his free time Bill enjoyed watching old movies and television programs, listening to his favorite classic 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s tunes, and being an ‘assistant DJ’ with his son, David. He was also active in the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post 156 where he loved participating in legion parades. He also delivered food to those in need with the Waltham Seniors Meals on Wheels program, and served as an acolyte at Saint Joseph’s Church on Main Street for many years. In addition he and Nancy were also members of the parish Couple’s Club and Bill was a longtime member of the Holy Name Society.
In addition to his wife, Nancy, Bill is reunited in heaven with his brothers, the late Robert Aucoin (Joan) and Ralph Aucoin (Mildred).
He leaves his children, William “Bill” Aucoin (Debi) of Marlborough, David Aucoin of Waltham, Brian Aucoin (Denise) of Hudson, Yvonne Farnsworth (Doug) of Waltham, Nancy Leonard (Tom) of Marlborough and Diane Conti (Mark) of Worcester; his grandchildren, Sean, Susan, Jason, Jeffrey, Eric, Danielle, Adam, Stephen, Gary, Keith, Chris, Andrew and Kerri; his great-grandchildren, Jacob, Myla, Issac, and Logan; his brother and sister, Edward Aucoin (late Janet) of North Andover, and Mary Forman (Steve) of Thousand Oaks, California, and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bill’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Monday, July 10th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
