Mr. William Jerome Blair, also known lovingly as Prof, died peacefully on August 28, 2007 after 54 years as a vibrant member of the Blair family and their extented families. Born in Waltham with Down Syndrome in 1953, his mother and father unselfishly brought him home and raised him in a loving and accepting environment with his three older siblings. Bill was exceptional in many ways and his slow but steady progress thrilled all who knew him. He traveled with the family and summered at his beloved Stonee Ledge on Sebego Lake. He played golf, loved to bowl, play wiffleball with his nieces and nephews and shoot hoops with all the family members. He had a mean hook shot. A trip to the Hostess cupcake factory thrilled him as did a shopping spree to buy glossy magazines. He took great pleasure in the simple things in life and was an inspiration to all who knew him. He loved everyone and everyone loved him. Bill was the son of the late Paul and Marion (Brown) Blair. He leaves two brothers, Paul C. Blair, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Sudbury and Leo F. Blair and his wife, Lisa, of Harvard; one sister, Susan A. Blair of Boxborough, many nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of loving friends and pets. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2007 at 11 a.m. in Bigelow Chapel at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mount Auburn Street Cambridge. Burial will follow in the family plot. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics Massachusetts, Attn: Donations, 450 Maple Street, Building 1, Danvers, MA 01923.
