Waltham Mr. William F. Chagnon, Sr., of Waltham, died Saturday, November 4, 2006 at Saint Elizabeths Medical Center, Brighton. He was 71. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Arthur J. and Margaret M. (Norton) Chagnon, he was a lifelong resident. Bill graduated from Saint Charles High School in Waltham and from Coyne Electrical and Technical School in Boston. During the Korean War, he served with the United States Navy. Until his retirement, he worked as an electrician and later as wires inspector for the City of Waltham Wires Department. Before that he had worked at the Mitre Corporation in Bedford. He had been a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 1018 in Waltham and for the past fifteen years he volunteered with the Meals on Wheels program run by the Waltham Council on Aging. In his spare time he enjoyed tending to his garden. Bill leaves his wife of 47 years, Diane J. (Arsenault) Chagnon; his children, William F. Chagnon, Jr. of Anacortes, Washington, Lynn M. Girouard of Brownsville, Vermont, David J. Chagnon, Sr. and Sharon A. Ditommaso, both of Waltham; two brothers, Michael Jim Chagnon of Ft. Pierce, Florida and Raymond P. Chagnon of Falmouth; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Arthur, John, Thomas and Paul Chagnon. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Meals on Wheels Program, c/o Waltham Council on Aging, 488 Main Street, Waltham, MA 02452.
