Waltham - Retired Waltham Firefighter William M. Cosgrove, of Waltham died Tuesday, December 2, 2003 in his home. He was 79. Born in Providence, RI, a son of the late Matthew A. and Mary E. Molly (Gunn) Cosgrove, he lived in Pawtucket before moving to Waltham in 1936. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1942. Mr. Cosgrove was a Firefighter for the City of Waltham from 1947 until his retirement in 1979. He was a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans, Division 14 in Waltham, a Life Member of the Waltham Elks, a former Clerk for the Waltham Municipal Credit Union where he also served as a charter member in 1950, and during World War II he served with the U.S. Navy. Mr. Cosgrove was the brother of the late John J. Jack Cosgrove. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Theresa A. (Belliveau) Cosgrove, his children Patricia A. Aucoin of Waltham, David W. Cosgrove of Framingham, Margaret M. Kraft of Raymond, ME, Jean M. MacKenzie and her husband Martin of Waltham, Douglas E. Cosgrove of Framingham, Robert M. Cosgrove and his wife Susana of Auburn, and Kenneth P. Cosgrove and his wife Paula of Framingham; eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20) Waltham, followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
