Mr. William D. Foss of Dorchester, formerly of Waltham, died Sunday, March 27, 2005 in the Boston Medical Center. He was 77. Bill was a resident of Standish Village, Dorchester Lower Mills at the time of his death. Born in Newton on May 23, 1927, he was the son of the late Bernard and Mildred (Davis) Foss. Much of his childhood was spent in Newport, Rhode Island where he was a graduate of Rogers High School. Returning to Massachusetts after serving in the Army during World War Two, Bill made his home in Waltham where he lived for many years. Bill graduated from Boston Univeristy, School of Communication. He was a former employee of the Patriot Ledger in Quincy, and Modern Graphics in Newton. He is a former member of the Old South Church, Boston where he became involved in various social groups. The 'Old Dogs' was a group in which he met many of his dearest firends, many of whom he kept in touch with on a regular basis. From a young age, Bill was fascinated with newspapers, trains and war trivia, and could expound at length on any of the above topics. Bill is survived by his sister, Margaret Leask of Annisquam, MA and many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. He was also the brother of the late Mary Louise Wynne and Pamelia Pool. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 27, at 2 pm in the First Congregational Church, 730 Main Street, Waltham.
