Mr. W. Douglas Gardiner, of Waltham, died Sunday, January 7, 2007 in the Miriam Boyd Parlin Residence in Wayland. He was 89. Born in Stonington, Connecticut, Mr. Gardiner had lived in Waltham since 1960. He was employed as an architect for the Army Corps of Engineers in Waltham until his retirement in 1980. Mr. Gardiner served with the United States Navy during World War II. Mr. Gardiner was the son of the late James E. and Emminda V.E. (Makin) Gardiner and is survived by his wife, Joan M. (Tracey) Gardiner and his children, Pamela J. Gardiner and her husband, Ernest Thomas, of Shirley, Kurt T. Gardiner and his partner, Susan B. Hulme, of Arlington, and Debi E. Gardiner of Worcester. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Saint Annes Episcopal Church, corner of Kirk and Merrimack Streets, (8 Kirk Street), Lowell.
