Waltham - Mr. William P. Groth, of Waltham, died Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. He was 65.
Bill was born and raised in Waltham and was a son of the late Louis H. and Theresa L. (LeBlanc) Groth. He graduated from Waltham High School in 1974 and four years later earned his bachelor's degree in accounting from Bentley College.
He worked for years as a certified public accountant, most recently as the controller at Oakley Country Club.
Bill had been a Watertown resident for thirty years before returning to Waltham five years ago. He loved his family and was ever present at his kids' activities at school or on the field of play. He kept in shape by indulging his passion for golf and running, sports he'd enjoyed since his youth.
He leaves his children, Jennifer L. Groth of Somerville, Christopher L. Groth of Waltham, Julie A. Downs (Larabio) of Revere and Kimberly R. Groth (Paul Haberman) of Watertown; his sisters and brother, Paula Aucoin (Robert ) of Sagamore Beach, Lynne Tattershall (Todd) of Bethel, Vermont, Judy Smith (Kevin) of Cardville, Maine and Thomas Groth (Maureen) of Uxbridge; his former wife, Kathleen M. (Sullivan) Groth of Newton and many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bill's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, September 28th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Luke's Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will be private.
Bill's family requests that masks be worn at the wake and funeral.
