Marion Mr. William J. Joyce of Marion, formerly of West Newton, Waltham, and West Harwich, died Monday, November 21, 2005 in his home surrounded by his family. He was 78. Born in Newton, Mr. Joyce was a graduate of Newton High School and received an engineering degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1948. After that he served as a lieutenant with the U.S. Army. Mr. Joyce had been the owner of Thomas A. Joyce & Co., a real estate and insurance firm in Waltham. He was a lifetime member of Brae Burn Country Club in Newton. He was also a patron of the arts and an avid reader who traveled extensively. Mr. Joyce loved classical music. He was a communicant of Saint Ritas Church in Marion. He was the son of the late Thomas A. and Agnes (Kelley) Joyce and brother of the late Ruth M. Joyce and Thomas A. Joyce. The husband of the late Ruth (Sexton) Joyce, he is survived by his sister-in-law, Mary C. (Gallagher) Joyce of Onset; his nieces and nephews, Thomas A. Joyce and his wife Mary, of Wareham, Patricia Stillerman and her husband James, of Dartmouth, and Kathleen Coppola and her husband Domenick, of Wareham; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and his dear friends, Spencer and Jane Carme and their family of Hudson. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9:30 a.m. Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visitation will be held prior to the Funeral Mass Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
