Waltham – Mr. William C. ‘Bill’ Malone, of Waltham, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 in the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He was 88.
A lifelong Waltham resident, Bill was born on January 5, 1922, a son of the late Carmelo and Rose (Delfino) Malone. Until his retirement he worked as the meat manager for Demoulas Market Basket stores.
During World War II he served with the United States Coast Guard. Bill was a member of the PFC John M. Sullivan USMC VFW Post No. 10334 in Waltham. He was a former member of the Dante Alighieri Lodge No. 648, Order of Sons of Italy in Waltham. Bill enjoyed sports, especially baseball and football and he and his wife enjoyed ballroom dancing and entertaining family and friends at home.
He was the father of the late Nina Malone and the brother of the late Nina Malone, Angela Rooney and Salvatore Malone.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa (Vitti) Malone, to whom he was married for 67 fun-filled years; his brothers, Joseph Malone of Arizona and Carmen Malone of Boston and his sister, Jean Carresi of Marshfield. His kindness and generosity earned him love from many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bill’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, October 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
