William J. Mannix

Mr. William J. Mannix, of Wareham and Crystal River, Florida, passed away on December 5, 2016.

Bill was a triple Eagle, graduating from BC High, Boston College and Boston College Graduate School. He was the head of Big Brother Association of Boston, was the chairman of the Horace Cousins Benevolent Fund of Newton and spent many years working with children throughout the Boston Public Schools.

He was the son of the late William J., Sr. and Margaret (McInerney) Mannix. Brother of Kathleen E. Young and her late husband Michael L. Young of Waltham, and the late Joan E. Harrington and her surviving husband James Donald Harrington of Belmont. Uncle of James D. Harrington Jr. and Michael Harrington, Gregory Young, William Young, Justin Young, Sean Young, and Stacey Boczenowski. Great Uncle of 13. Longtime companion of the late Patricia McCarthy.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bill's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, December 12th from 4-8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to the Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted, 880 Trapelo Rd., Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment private.
