Weston Mr. William D. Melone of Weston died Monday, February 14, in Lahey Clinic, Burlington. He was 80. Born in Penne, Italy, a son of the late Joseph and Maria Anna (Costantini) Melone, he lived in Waltham for a short time before moving to Weston in 1932. He graduated from Weston High School in 1942 where he was the president of his class. Mr. Melone was the Treasurer for J. Melone & Sons, Inc., a local construction company. Mr. Melone was a member of the Weston Mens Softball League for many years as well as a longtime team sponsor. He was also a member of the Cape Cod Old Timers Softball League and had been a former member of Saint Julias Holy Name Society in Weston. He summered for many years in West Harwich where he was a communicant at Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich. Mr. Melone was a World War II veteran who served with the U.S. Army's 168th Engineer Battalion in Europe. Mr. Melone was the husband of the late Marie F. (Woodliffe) Melone and a brother of the late Vincent, Anthony, and Josephine Melone. He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Adler) Melone; his children, Joseph Melone of Waltham, Patricia M. Wright of Wayland, Peter E. Melone of Weston, Jo-Anne M. Murphy of Lancaster, Kathryn M. Margotta of Brewster, William G. Melone of Maynard, and Teresa F. Berry of Yarmouth; his brothers, John Melone of Stow and Daniel Melone of Weston; his sisters, Anna Melone Pollock of Weston and Celia DeSimone of Rhode Island, eleven grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 10 a.m. Saturday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Julias Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial donations to the Franciscan Sisters of Assisi Fund, 1039 Northampton Street, Holyoke, MA 01040 would be appreciated.
