Conroe, TX - Mr. William D. ‘Bill’ Ross, of Conroe, Texas, died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Conroe Regional Hospital. He was 90.
Bill was born in Lynn on February 10, 1920, a son of the late William and Della (Peavey) Ross and was raised and educated in Waltham. During World War II he served in the Pacific with the United States Army.
After the war he went to work for the Navy department repairing submarines, first in Groton, Connecticut, and then for most of his career, at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. He lived in the Seattle area before moving to Texas several years ago.
He leaves his wife, Robyn Canady Ross; his step-children, Ronald Canady and his wife, Barbara, of Conroe, Texas and Richard Canady of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren, Danny, Rick and Merelee Canady; his brother, Richard W. Ross of Brewster and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was also the husband of the late Lucia (Tocci) Ross and a brother of the late George and Bernard Ross, Mildred Mason and Elizabeth Bonica.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bill’s life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
