William E. Timmins

Waltham – Mr. William E. Timmins, Sr., of Waltham, formerly of Allston, died Friday, April 1, 2016 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 86.

Bill was born in Boston on December 19, 1929, a son of the late Thomas, Sr. and Lucy (Kane) Timmons. He was raised in Brighton and was a graduate of Brighton High School. For a number of years he served with the United States Army National Guard.

Until his retirement he worked for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority as a mechanic and later as a supervisor.

On April 24, 1954 Bill married Allston native Mary A. Condon in Saint Anthony's Church in Allston and they enjoyed fifty-eight happy years together before Mary's death on February 11, 2012. The couple made Allston their home before moving to Waltham eighteen years ago.

For many years Bill and Mary spent summers at Libby's Oceanside Camp in York Harbor, Maine. Bill enjoyed golfing while in Maine and bowled often at Sammy White's in Allston.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Massachusetts National Guard Veterans Association and the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham.

Bill leaves his children, Patricia A. Sullivan and her husband, Michael, of Medford, Linda M. Corndell and her husband, Stephen, of Easton, Barbara J. Timmins of Marlborough and William E. Timmins, Jr. of Dracut; his brother, Paul Timmins, Sr. of Canton; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.

He was also a brother of the late Mary, Thomas and John Timmins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bill's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, April 5th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 10 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
