William R. Tomusko

February 15, 1924 — January 24, 2019

Mr. William R. Tomusko, of Dedham, formerly of Waltham died on Thursday, January 24, 2019 in Transitions of Dedham. He was 94.

William was born on February, 15, 1924 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania a son of the late John and Mary (Danko) Tomusko. Raised and educated in Wilkes Barre he was a graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School with the class of 1941. He then earned his Bachelor's degree from Bucknell University. He served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. On September 29, 1951 he married Eleanore F. Rowe in Saint John's Church in Portland, Maine and they made Waltham their home for over 60 years. After 65 years of marriage Eleanore died on April 12, 2017. Bill moved to Transitions of Dedham over four years ago.

He worked as a budget analyst for Raytheon Corporation for thirty-five years before retiring in April 1986.

A member of Saint Mary's Parish he was also a member of the Friends of the Waltham Public Library and the Raytheon Retired Employees Group. With passion and a green thumb he spent many days gardening with his daughter, Joan and enjoyed many hikes aside his son, Robert. He and Eleanore loved to travel and were able to visit many destinations throughout the United States and Europe. He also enjoyed classical music and was a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox.

In addition to his wife, Eleanore he is predeceased by his siblings, John M. and Joseph T. Tomusko, Josephine Onufer and Mary Mizenko.

He leaves his children, Robert L. Tomusko of Brighton and Joan L. Schoch (John) of Sharon; his grandchildren, Chandler Schoch and Gavin Schoch (Kasie); great-grandchildren Hunter & Jane Schoch; also survived by nieces & nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember William's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, January 29th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
