Waltham Mr. William J. Walsh of Waltham died Sunday, January 4, 2004 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 79. Born and raised in Brighton, a son of the late Thomas and Mary (Norris) Walsh, he moved to Waltham 45 years ago. He graduated from Saint Columbkilles High School in Brighton and during World War II he served with the U.S. Marine Corps. Until his retirement he worked as an engineer at General Electric in Lynn and later for the U.S. Department of Transportation in Cambridge and in Watertown. He leaves his wife, Mary P. (Bresnahan) Walsh; five children, Mary P. Walsh of Houlton, ME, Christine A. Hache of Waltham, Kathleen Wood of Gorham, ME, William J. Walsh, Jr. of New Ipswich, NH and Thomas K. Walsh of Waltham; one brother, Thomas Walsh of CA; 6 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Francis and John Walsh. The Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
