Waltham – Mr. William M. Whyte, of Waltham, died Wednesday March 20, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 65.
Bill was born in Cambridge on November 15, 1947, a son of the late John P. Whyte, Sr. and Mary C. (Bowes) Whyte. He worked in I.T. support for the Town of Belmont and previously worked for BLH Electronics in Canton for twenty years.
Bill was exceptionally handy and could fix or repair just about anything. He enjoyed tinkering with anything electronic and loved to unwind by taking long drives, occasionally testing the speed limit. Above all he loved his family and was an extremely devoted friend.
He leaves his beloved wife Mary Ellen (Maye) Whyte; his devoted daughter Megan and her husband, Adrian Vasquez, of Washington D.C.; his brother and sisters, John P. Whyte, Jr. and his wife, Marie, of Billerica, Mary Sullivan and her husband, Donald, of Marlborough, Margaret Kearsley of Watertown, Joan Roy of Watertown, Catherine Collins of Waltham and Elizabeth Ferren and her husband, Thomas, of Vista, California; his aunts, Virginia Bowes of Norwood and Marie Whyte of Scituate; his mother-in-law Mary Maye of Andover, formerly of Brighton and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bill's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, March 24th from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
