Waltham – Mrs. Winifred J. (Byrne) Aucoin, of Waltham, died Monday, January 19, 2015 in Epoch of Weston. She was 91.

Winifred was born August 22, 1923 in Waltham, a daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Johnson) Byrne and graduated from Waltham High School with the class of 1942. She married Albert J. Aucoin on November 22, 1950 and they enjoyed more than fifty-eight years together until his death on April 17, 2009.

Shortly after marriage she worked at the former Waltham Bag Company and later stayed at home to raise her children. She then worked in the cafeteria at Waltham Junior High School and in the cafeteria at Polaroid Corporation.

Winifred was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the PFC John M. Sullivan USMC Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10334 in Waltham.

In addition to her husband, Albert, she was predeceased by her siblings, William Byrne, Francis Byrne, Josephine Belliveau, Margaret Raguso, Teresa Edmund and Katherine Byrne.

She leaves her children, Patricia H. Tierney and her husband, Thomas, of Feeding Hills, Joseph P. Aucoin and his wife, Janet, of Waltham, William P. Aucoin and his wife, Joan, of Brighton and James A. Aucoin of Las Vegas; her daughter-in-law, Diana MacKenzie of Waltham; her sister, Anna Attardo of Burlington; her grandchildren, Stefanie, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Brian, Ian, Nathan and Eric Aucoin, Kristen Radwanski, Kara Wayte and Katelyn Tierney; her great-grandchildren, Cameron, Jace, Kaden and Raven and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Winifred's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
