Waltham - Mrs. Yvette M. (Bastarache) Cormier, of Waltham, died on May 14, 2020 at The Stanley Tippett House in Needham. She was 72.
Yvette was born on May 25, 1947 in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, the daughter of the late Hector and Rita (LeBlanc) Bastarache, and moved to Waltham with her family when she was fourteen.
On June 30, 1972 she married the love of her life, Raymond J. Cormier, in Saint Joseph's Church in Waltham. The pair made Waltham their lifelong home where Yvette stayed home to take care of her husband and children. Ray and Yvette loved playing cards together, especially '200'.
Some of the family's happiest memories were time spent camping at Peaceful Pine Park in Templeton. Ray and Yvette had also built a cottage in Florina Beach, Cocagne, New Brunswick where they spent many happy summers.
She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Cormier and is survived by her children, Maurice R. Cormier (Debi) of Pepperell and Lisa A. Cormier-Cloonan (Jack) of Norwood; her grandchilren, Raymond J. Cloonan, Daniel J. Cloonan, Jacqueline E. Cormier and Melanie J. Cormier and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Yvette was also a sister of the late Paul Bastarache, Cleo Bastarache, Mary Bastarache, Anthony Bastarache, Osithe Bourque, Dora Bastarache, Omer Bastarache, Arthur Bastarache and Odilon Bastarache.
Funeral services will be private.
