Framingham – Sr. Yvette Rivard, R.C.E. died Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham. She was 77.
Sr. Yvette was born in Fitchburg on February 12, 1938, a daughter of the late Frederick and Marianne (Tanguay) Rivard, and was raised in Saint Joseph's Parish, Fitchburg. She was a graduate of Saint Bernard's High School in Fitchburg and earned her bachelor's degree at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana. She later did graduate work at Boston College.
Sr. Yvette entered the Religious of Christian Education community on August 15, 1955 at Jeanne d'Arc Academy in Milton and professed her final vows there on the same date in 1962.
She taught at Marycliff Academy in Winchester and at Saint Pierre's School in Waltham and Immaculata School in Hendersonville, North Carolina where she also served as principal. After that Sr. Yvette was elected Provincial of the American Province of the Religious of Christian Education and later did missionary work in Peru. Until her retirement she did volunteer work at the Pine Street Inn in Boston.
Sr. Yvette leaves her brothers, Joseph Rivard of Fitchburg and Raymond Rivard of Leominster, many nieces and nephews and her confrères in the Religious of Christian Education community.
She was also the sister of the late Gerard Rivard, Maurice Rivard and Roland Rivard.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sister Yvette's life by gathering to visit at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, January 16th in the Holy Family Chapel at Saint Patrick's Manor, 863 Central Street, Framingham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
