Mr. Yvon O. Cormier, of Waltham, died Monday, November 21, 2022 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He was 78.
Yvon was born and raised in Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, New Brunswick and immigrated to the States in 1963. Following his marriage a year later to Alma T. LeBlanc in Saint Joseph’s Church, the couple made Waltham their lifelong home.
He was a talented self-employed master carpenter and framer who was in great demand by area contractors for his extraordinary skill and work ethic.
Yvon and Alma were longtime members of the French-American Victory Club in Waltham and were able to spend many happy summers at Pine Point in Scarborough, Maine and winters in Saint Petersburg, Florida.
They were longtime parishioners of Saint Joseph’s Church and Saint Charles Borromeo Church before joining Sacred Heart Parish, all in Waltham.
In addition to his wife, Alma, he leaves his daughter, Lisa A. Hines (Glen) of Waltham; his grandchildren, Jessica Devine (Matthew) and Steven Hines; his great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Ellie Devine; his brother and sisters, Emile Cormier (late Lucie) of Sainte-Anne-de-Kent, New Brunswick, Doris Martin (Robert) of Saint-Louis-de-Kent, New Brunswick, Helen Saball (late George) and Jeannette Cormier (Donald), all of Leominster and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Yvon’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, November 27th from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum in Waltham.
